Between Love and Loyality

The light and shading here are wonderfully done, and both combine to create an amazing image. Although I've seen several other pieces with one-winged angels, this is perhaps the first that I feel captures the pain and difficulty of that particular position. The play of the shadows along his back serves to help add in the tension as he stretches upwards.

The only place I find that could have used a little more attention is his complete wing. There are places where the coloration does not fit together as smoothly as the rest of this image, such as the spaces between his feathers. Overall, everything else is practically perfect, the form on both the clawed, shadowed hand and this beautiful, pained being are done with excellent attention to natural anatomy in such a way that makes this entire piece shine.
